Omori Lake House

After being handed down to the next generation to manage and enjoy, this family decided to give a much loved family holiday home a refresh on a budget.

A long weekend working bee saw them carrying out my suggestions of painting the dark wooden furniture white.  This included painting the existing dining table, chair legs and bar stools white.  I had the worn dark leather chairs recovered with removable and washable covers.

I purchased a secondhand console and coffee table which were also painted white.

I arranged for a section of an old map of Lake Taupo to be mounted onto board and hung above the new console table.  I also placed some baskets for shoes under the console table to avoid a dumping ground at the front door.

The result is a much lighter space which allows the gorgeous view to be the focus.

Next on the list is to replace the curtains and blinds…
